Monday morning, I should be supercharged and ready to go but get hit by a flu bug (non Coronavirus!) that is plaguing people with sore throats, coughs, and aching bones. But, some work can be accomplished, and I’m happy to to include in this post a press release from a publicity campaign for the The Friends of Eddy Relish. This was the first novel I wrote and its written in collaboration with a friend. After trying to get it published 20 years ago, it was tossed in a drawer, while I wrote my two novel vampire series: The Last Dream Before You Die and Everything Hurts. When I wrote Pax Britannica, AuthorHouse publishers offered an Xmas two for the price of one publishing package. Thus, as well as Pax Britannica, I could dust down Eddy Relish, and with some ruthless pruning and updating The Friends of Eddy Relish saw an end to its 20 year gestation TFOER Press Release
I try to keep my blog apolitical but followers of British politics may know the virtual collapse of the Labor Party at the last election. The Party has been accused of deserting the British working class and becoming a narcissistic urban party of the well off Middle Classes. This is parodied and lampooned in Eddy Relish, 20 years before today, but plus ca change plus la meme chose or what goes around comes around. So our comic thriller is still topical and, of course, it was dragged into 2019. Its not all that original given the early works of Aldous Huxley, Evelyn Waugh and George Orwell, the latter of whom had a marvellous term, the Pansy Left to describe Labor’s Middle Class Fellow travellers.
Anyway, this post is all about relaunching Eddy Relish. Without being too solipsistic, this is a big a story as we could concoct in the typical thriller format, and allowed us to poke fun at a few Shibboleths.
