Since no-one appears to be looking at my website and blog post, the blog page is more like an electronic diary than a means of communicating with the outside world. I think that He Might Be Still on Mars will be my last fiction book for the foreseeable future. Self publishing has with it the danger of addiction to keep spending money to promote your book. I have spent way too much on my Mars book and Pax Britannica and Friends of Eddy Relish. Its time to take a break and hope my finances will recover. I have a 75 page WIP, which needs to be set on one side for a while and an idea for another thriller using the familiar trope as bad guy as hero. These ideas will keep if I want to come back to fiction writing, other wise I will focus on a long term academic project of mine to look at a particular group of tropical anchovies, which are consumed fresh, dry or fermented into fish sauce in SE Asia, and tuna baitfish in the Pacific Islands. This group of anchovies have had an analogous impact to SE Asian Culture as Cod to European and Caribbean Culture. I had hoped Mark Kurlansky might employ his formidable energies to researching and writing about these anchovies, but have had no indication that he is interested in these fish. Thus, I should do it myself.
